Ever wondered what are the success habits of 6-figures entrepreneurs?
I recently came across a list of 20+ success habits. As I made my way through it – wake up at 5am, meditate to calming music, drink a green juice every morning… -, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.
I built a 6-figures coaching business without doing any of those things – and I’m by no means an exception. You don’t need to become a wellness guru to be successful in business.
But this list got me thinking… what are the success habits that got me to 6-figures? I came up with my list of things that actually work. Cultivate these habits and you too will reach 6-figures and beyond. Here they are:
Success Habit #1: Follow Your Vision
Everyone has an opinion on how you should run your business:
Your coach might say, “A membership won’t make you any money. Do 1:1 coaching first.”
Your audience may say, “You’d do great on YouTube, why don’t you start a channel?”
Your friends may say, “I’ve just switched email marketing provider, it’s the best. You should switch, too.”
It’s tempting to follow their advice. After all, doesn’t your coach know best? Shouldn’t you give your audience what they want? Not necessarily…
When I started this business, I wanted to sell online courses, write a blog, and host a podcast. But my coach told me that wouldn’t work. I needed to start with 1:1 coaching and sell my packages on social media.
Fast forward a year later, I was high in debt and I barely signed up a client here and there! This business model had worked for my coach. But it wasn’t working for me because it was NOT my vision.
I resented having to spend time on social media selling something I didn’t fully believe in, so that one day I could make enough money to do the work I truly wanted to do. People felt something was off and said no to working with me. I eventually stopped working with that coach and went back to my vision.
Making decisions based on MY vision, not what other people want me to do, helped me avoid shiny object syndrome and random distractions, choose the right mentors, and reach my goal faster.

Success Habit #2: Take Radical Responsibility
Things go wrong in business all the time. I’ve had an accountant disappearing on me in the middle of tax season. Tax penalties. Google algorithms halving my revenue overnight.
None of these things were my fault. But I still took 100% responsibility for them. Here’s why:
Victim mindset: It’s their fault! There’s nothing I can do about it.
Success mindset: I generated this for a reason. What can I learn from this experience and what can I do to turn things around?
This isn’t about blaming yourself for what goes wrong in your business. This is about getting your power back.
Everything is happening for you, not to you. When you understand what this experience is here to teach you and learn that lesson, you can turn things around quickly.
Here’s an example. I knew that my accountant wasn’t reliable. Yet, I let little things slide because I felt bad firing him (people pleasing!). Thanks to this experience, I’m now addressing any small concerns with my team hands on – and found an accountant I can rely on.

Success Habit #3: Be Consistent
Forget about the latest social media trends and jumping on new, shiny tactics. I know this isn’t sexy but, success is the result of doing the same thing consistently, over and over and over again.
For example, you’ll get a newsletter from me every single Monday. It didn’t happen by accident. I made the conscious decision to prioritise email marketing and then set up systems in place so that an email goes out every Monday, no matter what’s going on in my life.
I’ve also been consistent with my messaging. Sometimes I feel like I’m saying the same thing every single day, but I know there’s someone out there that needs to hear it.
I see female entrepreneurs changing things up all the time. They start talking about relationships and then get bored and go into productivity. They try a different marketing strategy every month, hoping one will get them results faster. Or they implement too many tactics at the same time, they drop balls all over the place and aren’t consistent with anything. They do all the things, but they don’t give anything enough time to grow.
Decide what you want to focus on and take action on it every single day, even when it feels like it’s going nowhere. Consistency is like a snowball. It builds up really slowly, but once it gains momentum, things happen fast.
Show up like people are watching every day – because they are.

Pick an area in your business where you’ve been inconsistent and set up systems in place that allows you to show up regularly. How can you set yourself up for success, so that you show up no matter what? Maybe you need to hire a team member. Or automate a process. Or have a conversation with your partner.
Success Habit #4: Manage Your Emotions
Your mind isn’t stopping you from being successful. Your emotions are.
Take the first time I ever went live. My mind knew there was nothing to be afraid of. The worst that could happen? No one’d watch it. And I was ok with that. I know everything takes time to build. Consistency, remember?
But, as soon as I pushed that “go live” button, I freaked out so much, I ended the live immediately. This happened a couple of times. What was going on?
My mind knew I wasn’t in danger. My body didn’t. As a young child, my teachers often praised me in front of the class – and I was bullied for it. As I was about to go live, my body remembered what happened when I showed off how good I was in front of other people and triggered the same emotions (fear, anxiety, nervousness) to stop me. And, for a while, it worked.
It’s not just fear or anxiety. Maybe you get mad at your virtual assistant for not doing things exactly as you want them. Or you’re frustrated with a client who wants a refund. Or you feel uncomfortable emailing an influencer and so you don’t.
When your emotions run your business, you make decisions and take actions that take you further away from your goals.
I’m constantly working on my triggers so that I can take action towards my goals no matter how I feel in the moment.

Success Habit #5: Surround Yourself With People Who Won’t Buy Your Excuses
They say to surround yourself with positive people. Hire a coach. Hang out with other women who have the same goals as you. It’s not bad advice, but it’s incomplete.
There are plenty of positive people out there who talk a big game but have zero results. Just like there are lots of coaches who see you’re not showing up fully and won’t challenge you when you tell them your dog ate your homework.
Success happens when you surround yourself with people who won’t buy into your excuses, however legitimate they may be.
A couple of years ago, I joined a leadership programme that completely transformed my life. In that programme, I declared a goal and, every week, my coach would hold me accountable to it.
Whenever I told her I had been too busy with work that week, that I had been in bed sick, or that I hadn’t figured out how to do something yet, she called out my BS. She knew that overwhelm, confusion, and even sickness are forms of self-sabotage.
She’d coach me on what was really keeping me stuck. She challenged me to find creative ways to keep my commitments even when work was too busy or I wasn’t feeling well. She constantly reminded me of my vision and empowered me to reach it. And she did it all with so much love.
I reached my goal in 90 days.
Since that programme, I’ve surrounded myself with friends and partners who challenge me in the same way. When people don’t buy your excuses, you have no option but do the work – and you get results so much faster.

Surround yourself with people who always tell you the truth and challenge you to achieve your goals no matter what. Here are a few ideas:
- Join masterminds where people hold each other accountable.
- Hire a coach who won’t buy into your excuses (hint: you often won’t like them and that’s ok. Your coach is NOT your friend. You do NOT need to like them to get results).
- Ask a friend to be your accountability buddy and not to buy into your excuses, no matter how valid they are.
Success Habit #6: Be Generous
Here’s a piece of business advice I do NOT agree with: tell people what you do and why they should buy from you, but do not give them the how.
Seriously?! Am I supposed to hand you money without knowing what the heck I’m buying and if it works?!
My mentors, the people I’ve worked with and buy from, are very generous. They constantly share their best techniques on social media, they offer free trials of their products, and answer every question you have directly. I know their free stuff works, so I feel safe investing thousands with them for their paid products.
I do the same in my business. I give away everything for free because I know that, the more value I provide, the more people will want to work with me.
I want people to think: “If her stuff is so good, I can’t wait to see what her paid stuff is like. Plus, I’m getting access to her, support, and accountability. Sign me up!”
Success Habit #7: Constantly Work On Your Success Blocks
If you haven’t reached your goals, it’s because you’re scared of success. Or better, the negative side of success.
Everyone’s talking about making 6+ figures, working from a beach in Bali, and flying private jets. While your conscious mind is excited by those goals, your subconscious is thinking:
- What if I become successful and outgrow my friends?
- If I become the breadwinner, will I emasculate my partner?
- What if I make all this money and the government takes it all?
- What if I build a big audience and say something that gets me cancelled?
These are just some of the success blocks that keep you stuck at your current income level – where it’s safe.
I’m constantly working on my own success blocks, the limiting beliefs and stories like “if I’m successful people won’t like me” and “I need to work hard to make money.”
You may think that, once you reach a certain level of success, you won’t have success blocks anymore. It’s not true. Fears and insecurities come up all the time. But now I know how to manage them, so I can take the uncomfortable action to go to my next level.
