Someday, everything will make perfect sense. So for now, laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears, be strong and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason.
Do you feel lost in life?
Like you’re meant for something more, but have no idea what that is or how to get there?
Without a clear vision or direction to follow, you get stuck on the treadmill. You know the job you’re doing isn’t right for you, but you’ve got bills to pay now.
How can you quit everything when you don’t have the slightest idea of what to do with your life?
I hear ya. A few years ago, I was stuck in the very same place. I knew what I was doing wasn’t right for me, but I was clueless about which passion to pursue or how to make money out of it.
I’m not gonna lie: if it was one of the worst periods of my life. I was riddled with doubts. Gripped with fear. Unsure of what steps to take next.
Yet, it all worked out in the end. It always works out in the end.
Looking back, there was no reason for all that stress and worry. The more I fretted about my future, the more muddled and confused my vision became.
If I could go back to that time, I’d tell younger Giorgia that was she was going through – what YOU are going through – is perfectly normal.
Here are 5 things to remember when you feel lost and stuck in life, so you can stop worrying about the future and make the most of the present moment:
1. You Are Exactly Where You Need To Be Right Now
I know what you’re thinking: “Why would anyone ever need to feel this stuck, lost, and confused?”
That sense of dissatisfaction with your current job, the nagging feeling that you’re meant for more… that’s your intuition talking to you.
It’s its way of telling you that your career isn’t in alignment with your purpose on this planet and that you need to make a change.
Problem is, we humans don’t like change. If everything in your life were rosy, you would keep the status quo.
Hence the discomfort. It’s the first step towards your new life, the prequel to all your dreams.
It’s the force that makes you break away from your current life so you can enter the next stage and use your skills, talents, and passions to make a difference in the world.
2. You’re Changing Even When You Feel Like Nothing’s Changing
As human beings, we’re always evolving.
Every day, you learn new things, have new experiences, and interact with new people. Each interaction changes your perspective, makes you question the status quo, and opens up the mind to new possibilities.
But before these new possibilities can manifest, there’s a stage of confusion. You’re feeling stuck between the old life you know and the exciting dreams you could make come true.
It’s totally normal. This uncomfortable stage is just preparing you for all the goodness that is about to come in your life.
Accept it. The sooner you surrender to it, the sooner you’ll find clarity.
3. When In Doubt, Follow Your Curiosity
Can I tell you a secret? Very few people know from the cradle what they want to do with their life. Most of us need to figure it out along the way.
It doesn’t have to be hard. The trick is to follow your curiosity. When something piques your interest, explore it.
Are you into fashion? Start a blog and connect with other like-minded people.
Do you like reading psychology books in your spare time? Take a class on the subject.
Like to design websites? Ask a friend if you can redesign hers for your portfolio.
Then, pay attention to how you feel about it. Does following this interest makes you feel alive? You’re on the right track. Keep going.
Follow your curiosity. It’ll lead you where you need to go.

4. You Don’t Have To Quit The Day Job Just Yet
I know both from personal experience and working with clients that most of the confusion and stuckness you’re feeling comes from the self-inflicted pressure of making a huge change now.
You’re afraid of admitting even to yourself that you have a new passion or interest you’d love to pursue.
If you do, you’ll have to quit your day job and start your new venture immediately – and you have no idea how to do that or how to pay the bills in the meantime.
Stop. Don’t try to build an entire house before you’ve laid down the first brick.
You don’t have to quit your job now. All you have to do is follow your curiosity. Find a way to do a little of what you love every day.
It could be something simple as reading a book about something you want to learn. Or tell your friends that you’re looking for web design clients. Or start a blog about a topic you’re passionate about.
Take one baby step at a time. Little by little, you’ll get where you need to go.
5. This Too Shall Pass
I know… when you’re feeling lost and confused, stuck in a job and life you don’t like, it feels like there’s no way out.
But nothing in life lasts forever. Just like springs always follows winter, so clarity and joy follows confusion and stuckness.
Hang in there. While you’re feeling like nothing is happening, the universe is planting seeds that will soon blossom into your most amazing dreams.
Have faith. This too shall pass.
